FMU selects homecoming king and queen

FLORENCE, S.C. – Eddie L. Thomas Jr. and Stacey Codrington were selected as Francis Marion University’s 2001 homecoming king and queen on Feb. 17.

 Thomas, of Florence, is a senior mathematics major. He is a member of the Baptist Student Union, Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, the Minority Student Association, Project C.A.A.R.E., the Sankofa Performing Arts Troupe and the Imani Singers. Thomas is also president of the Math Club. He was sponsored by the National Pan-Hellenic Council.

 Codrington, a native of Trinidad and Tobago, resides in Silver Spring, Md. She is a senior accounting major and was sponsored by Residence Life. She is a member of the women’s cross country and track teams, the Accounting Society, and is a resident assistant.

 During Spirit Week, Feb. 12-17, FMU’s Student Government Association held elections to select the 2001 homecoming king and queen. The king and queen are selected by the student body to represent the student body’s school spirit. The crowning ceremony was performed during halftime of the FMU men’s basketball game against Kennesaw State University.
