FLORENCE – The Francis Marion University Artist Series will present violinist Kevin Lawrence and pianist Barbara Lister-Sink in concert on Thursday, March 15.
The concert will begin at 8 p.m. in the Adele Kassab Recital Hall in the Hyman Fine Arts Center on campus. Admission is free and open to the public.
The program will include selections by Mozart, Beethoven, Ravel and Arthur Foote.
Lawrence has received critical acclaim throughout the United States and Europe. He recently visited Russia to present a series of recitals and master classes focusing on American music at the St. Petersburg Conservatory.
His performances have been aired on the National Public Radio and Voice of America broadcasting systems. His second recording of American violin music is currently in production. Lawrence received his professional training at The Juilliard School and has won numerous grants.
Lister-Sink has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout North America and Europe and has recorded for NPR, the CBC and Radio Netherlands, as well as for several record labels. She has appeared with principal players of most major American and Dutch orchestras and numerous quartets and string quartets.
She has served as dean of the school of music, artist-in-residence, and professor of piano at Salem College in her native North Carolina. She is a graduate of Smith College and has taught on the piano faculties of the Amsterdam Muziek Lyceum, Duke University, the Brevard Music Center and the Eastman School of Music. Lister-Sink is also recognized as a pioneer and international leader in the field of injury-preventive keyboard technique.
