FLORENCE – The Sankofa Museum on Wheels will visit Francis Marion University on Feb. 22, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the Smith University Center commons.

Sankofa is a traveling exhibit that highlights the history, culture and achievements of African-Americans from 1860 to the present. The museum was founded by Angela W. Jennings, a resident of Denmark, S.C.

The exhibit includes information about famous African-Americans and their contributions, as well as African-American celebrations, stamps, books and inventions.

Sankofa has appeared at numerous colleges, universities, and elementary and high schools in South Carolina. The museum previously visited FMU in November 1999.
