FMU to hold Kwanzaa celebration, Nov. 28

FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University’s Office of Multicultural Affairs will hold a Kwanzaa celebration on Nov. 28 at 6:30 p.m. in the Smith University Center commons on the FMU campus.

The event will consist of singing, creative dancing, dramatic monologues and other activities. The program will feature the Imani Singers and FMU’s Young, Gifted and Black Chorus. Donna Lee of Charleston will also be performing her one-woman show. A reception will follow the program, which is free and open to the public.

Kwanzaa is a festive occasion, a special time spent with family and with friends. Its purpose is for African Americans to join together and honor the traditions of their ancestors, plan for the upcoming year, and make themselves a better people.

For more information, contact A.D. Givens Little, FMU’s coordinator of multicultural student affairs, at 843-661-1188.
