FMU To Hold Follow-Up Symposium to Sept. 11 Attacks
FLORENCE---A follow-up symposium on the events of Sept. 11 will be held at Francis Marion University, Monday, Nov. 19, at 3:45 p.m. in the Cauthen Educational Media Center auditorium.
Titled “9-11: 10 Weeks Later,” the symposium will feature a diverse panel discussing the events in the aftermath of the attack on America. Free to the public, the program is being organized by Ed Freedman, coordinator of FMU’s mass communication program, who also will serve as moderator.
Panelists will include Dr. Harvey Kayman, district health director for the Department of Health and Environmental Control; Richard Sale, former FBI agent and currently a FBI chaplain who spent two weeks at ground zero in New York as chaplain for the law enforcement people working at the scene; Sayed el Abedin, president of the Islamic Studies and Research Association of South Carolina; and Caroline Imler, news director of WBTW TV 13 in Florence.
