FMU First Tuesday Arts Event, artists' reception set for Nov. 6

FLORENCE, S.C. – Three Francis Marion University music professors will perform and art exhibits will be featured at Francis Marion University’s First Tuesday Arts Event on Nov. 6.

The program, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7:45 p.m. in the Hyman Fine Arts Center gallery with a viewing “What Goes Where,” an exhibit of multimedia and collage works by Lawrence Anderson, and “Discovery of the Center” a ceramics exhibit by Paula Smith. The displays are part of the FMU Art Gallery Series.

Prior to the program, an “Exhibiting Artists’ Reception” will be held at 7 p.m. in the fine arts center for all of the artists exhibiting their work at FMU this fall. The reception will provide an opportunity for the public to meet the artists, including Anderson, who last year was named chairman of the FMU Department of Fine Arts and Mass Communication.

At 8 p.m. in the Adele Kassab Recital Hall, FMU music professors Sue Orr, soprano; Terry Roberts, horn; and Benjamin Woods, piano, will perform.

Following the performance, everyone is invited to the Smith University Center art gallery to view exhibits by FMU painting students. These exhibits are also part of the FMU Art Gallery Series.
