FMU Trustees To Meet Oct. 19

FLORENCE---The Francis Marion University Board of Trustees will meet Friday, Oct. 19, at 3 p.m. in the President’s Room of Ervin Dining Hall.

The board will hear reports of its various committees and from university president Fred Carter.   The board will consider a resolution to lease Wallace Cottage to the FMU Foundation to renovate and operate the house as an alumni/faculty club and guest house for the benefit of the university.  A second resolution would rename the facility the BB&T/Amelia Wallace Faculty/Alumni House.  BB&T donated the bulk of the funds to renovate the facility.

A third resolution would authorize the university’s president to spend up to $50,000 biannually, in January and April for a five-year period, to support the technology priorities identified by the Faculty Information Technology Committee.  The nonrecurring funds come from the sale of the Patriot Bookstore inventory to a private vendor.

Prior to the full board meeting, trustee committees will meet as follows:  Executive Affairs at 8:30 a.m. in Hendrick Dining Room;  Future Studies at 9:30 a.m. in Palmetto East;  Financial Affairs and Responsibility at 9:30 a.m. in Palmetto West;  Academic Affairs and Shared Governance at 11 a.m. in Palmetto West;  Student Affairs and Advancement at 11 a.m. in Palmetto East;  Alumni Development at 1:30 p.m. in Palmetto East;  and University Development at 1:30 p.m. in Palmetto West.
