FMU to hold Fall 2001 Career Awareness Week, Oct. 22-25
FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University’s Office of Career Development will hold its Fall 2001 Career Awareness Week, Oct. 22-25.
The week will begin with three career workshops. On Monday, Oct. 22, a career assessment workshop, titled “Interests, Skills and Assessments,” will be presented by Rebecca Lawson, director of FMU’s Counseling and Testing Center.
On Tuesday, Oct. 23, a career exploration workshop, “Exploring Transferable Skills and Various Careers,” will be presented by Misty McBride of Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
On Wednesday, Oct. 24, a career preparation workshop, “Resume Writing and Interview Skills,” will be presented by Jennifer Kunka, director of FMU’s Writing Center, and Teresa Anderson, a member of the FMU Board of Trustees.
All three workshops are free and will be held in Smith University Center Room 218 from 2:30 to 4 p.m.
The week will culminate with a Career Fair from 1 to 4 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25, in the Smith University Center commons. More than 50 local, state, and regional businesses and school districts, as well as graduate schools, are expected to participate by setting up information booths at the fair.
Students from Florence-Darlington Technical College, Coker College, and the public, along with FMU undergraduates, graduate students, recent graduates and alumni are invited to take part in this event. This is an opportunity to build employment contacts through networking and to gather career information, as well as enhance job-preparation skills and job-search strategies. Door prizes will also be given.
