FMU First Tuesday Arts Event to feature wind quintet, Oct. 2
FLORENCE, S.C. – The Florence Symphony Orchestra Wind Quintet will be perform and art exhibits will be featured at Francis Marion University’s First Tuesday Arts Event on Oct. 2.
The program, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7:45 p.m. in the Hyman Fine Arts Center gallery with a viewing of “eye gumbo” by Andre Leon Gray and works from local and regional collections. The displays are part of the FMU Art Gallery Series.
At 8 p.m. in the Adele Kassab Recital Hall, the Florence Symphony Orchestra Wind Quintet will perform. The group is comprised of Kristin Slaughenhoupt, flute; Peter Fichte, clarinet; Claire Knox, oboe; Roy Skinner, bassoon; and Maria Davis, French horn. The program will include selections by Mozart, Henry Purcell, Anatoli Liadov and Malcolm Arnold.
Following the program in the Hyman Fine Arts Center, everyone is invited to the Smith University Center art gallery to view “3 x 6: Paintings in Tryptych Format” by Osmosis Painters Group. This exhibit is also part of the FMU Art Gallery Series.
