Welch Named FMU Presidential Scholar

FLORENCE---Kevin Glen Welch of Florence, a freshman at Francis Marion University, has been granted a Presidential Scholarship, the university’s most prestigious award.

 Presidential Scholars receive awards covering general university fees and on-campus room and board.  The scholarships are awarded to outstanding freshmen each year, based upon SAT scores, academic record and academic potential. 

Recipients may renew the scholarship for up to three years beyond the initial year by maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0.

 Son of Mr. and Mrs. Randall C. Welch, 2472 S. Hallmark Dr., Florence, he is a graduate of South Florence High.  He also has taken classes at Florence-Darlington Technical College.
