FLORENCE---Two new department chairmen have been named at Francis Marion University, according to Provost Richard Chapman.
Fred R. Clayton Jr. has been named chairman of the Department of Chemistry, and Larry E. Nelson has been appointed head of the Department of History.
Clayton, a native of Knoxville, Tenn., has been at FMU since 1971. He holds bachelor’s and doctoral degrees in chemistry from the University of Tennessee.
A native of Ogden, Utah, Nelson has been a member of the FMU faculty since 1974. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University, a master’s from the University of Utah, and a doctorate from Duke University.
