NCAA Division II Basketball Selection Special To Appear On The Internet, March 4

FLORENCE, S.C. – The selection special announcing the field for the 2001 NCAA Division II women’s basketball national tournament will be available on the Internet through Yahoo! Broadcast on Sunday (March 4).

The show will begin at 6:30 p.m. (Eastern Time) and last approximately 20 minutes.

To access the selection program, go to www.ncaachampionships.com and click on “Women’s Basketball” on the left side of the home page. You will then be taken to an option to access the Internet selection show.  The program will be archived for a period of four days after the live show.

The tournament field consists of eight six-team regionals.  In the South Atlantic Region, three spots go to the champions of the Peach Belt Conference, South Atlantic Conference, and Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, and there are three at-large spots.

The FMU Patriot women owned a 21-5 record heading into the PBC Tournament and were looking for their fifth consecutive invitation to the “Big Dance.”  Francis Marion advanced to the Final Four in 1998 and to the round of “Sweet Sixteen” each of the past two years.
