FLORENCE---Seven incumbents and one former board member were re-elected to four-year terms on the Francis Marion University Board of Trustees by the General Assembly Tuesday, March 9.
Incumbents re-elected to the board were James A. Brown, Kenneth W. Jackson and Robert E. Lee, all of Florence; William M. Ellen of Columbia;
L. Franklin Elmore of Greenville; Carolyn B. Shortt of Laurens and W.C. Stanton of Cheraw. Lee is the current chairman of the board.
H. Randall Dozier of Georgetown, a former member of the board, was elected from District 1. Worth D. Roberts III of Mt. Pleasant chose not to run for re-election from that district.
“This is an extraordinarily fine slate of trustees,” said FMU President Fred Carter. “It is a pleasure working with such a group of distinguished people.”
The 17-member board is charged with overseeing the effective governance of the university.
