FMU choral groups to present spring concert

FLORENCE, S.C – Francis Marion University will present its annual Spring Choral Concert, Sunday, April 21.

 The concert will begin at 3 p.m. in the Hyman Fine Arts Center’s Adele Kassab Recital Hall on the FMU campus. Admission is free and open to the public.

 The program will feature the FMU Concert Choir, the Cut Time show choir, and the FMU String Ensemble.

 The string ensemble will accompany the concert choir on selections by Handel and Brahms. A solo quartet consisting of Erin Carter of Surfside, Justin Taylor of Effingham, and Nadia Jones and Joshua Barr, both of Florence, will be featured. Former concert choir member and FMU basketball player Marcel Boggs of Florence will be the guest soloist on two spirituals.

 Cut Time will present the program it performed at Disney World on April 13, including numbers such as “One Fine Day,” “Bye Bye, Love,” and “Old Time Rock and Roll.”

 The choral groups are directed by Sue Butler Orr and accompanied by Rebecca Culbertson. The FMU String Ensemble is directed by Terry Roberts.
