FLORENCE, S.C. – The Francis Marion University Artist Series will present violist Amadi Hummings in concert, Tuesday, April 16.
The performance will be in the Kassab Recital Hall of the Hyman Fine Arts Center on the FMU campus. The concert will begin at 8 p.m. and admission is free and open to the public.
Hummings has performed in major cities throughout the United States, including an appearance at the U.S. Supreme Court. In recent seasons, he has been a guest of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center at Alice Tully Hall and at the Kennedy Center.
As a concerto soloist, he has appeared with the Gateways Music Festival Orchestra, the City Island Baroque Ensemble of New York, the National Symphony of Ecuador, the North Carolina and Winston-Salem Symphonies, and at the Costa Rica International Music Festival. He has also performed at the Marlboro, Sarasota, Tanglewood, Aspen, Norfolk, San Juan and Prussia Cove festivals.
Hummings has appeared as artist faculty at the Brevard Music Center and at the Aria International Summer Academy in London, Ontario, Canada. After early studies with his mother, Hummings attended the North Carolina School of the Arts, New England Conservatory, Rice University, and Indiana University.
