FLORENCE, S.C. – Niki Chavis, a sophomore at Francis Marion University, will compete in the Miss South Carolina Pageant in July.
Chavis, of Florence, won the Miss Myrtle Beach 2002 crown in December. She is a mass communication major with a minor in theatre. Upon graduation from Francis Marion, she plans to either attend graduate school or pursue a career as an entertainment reporter or actress.
Chavis has already appeared in two movies, the Fox film “Drumline” and the independent film “Fearsome.” She has competed in several pageants, including Miss FMU, Miss Lake City Teen USA, Miss Iris Festival and Miss Florence.
She is active in the Florence Little Theatre, and has appeared in local television and print ads, as well as fashion shows. She is also a dancer, and her pageant talent is classical ballet.
The 20-year-old is a graduate of West Florence High School. She is the daughter of Sabrina Sullivan of Florence.
The Miss South Carolina Pageant will be held July 10-13 in the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium.
