FLORENCE, S.C. – The Carolina Bank Golf Scholarship has been established at Francis Marion University.
The purpose of the scholarship is to assist an outstanding student-athlete who is a member of the FMU golf team. The scholarship will be endowed in the amount of $25,000.
Rick Beasley, president of Carolina Bank, noted the importance that athletics play in the overall development of students. “More than any other sport, the lessons learned from golf last a lifetime and have an influence in formulating our values throughout adulthood,” he said. “Carolina Bank is most pleased to offer this scholarship to FMU student athletes.”
The recipient of the scholarship must meet the admission requirements of FMU without restriction, and must meet all eligibility requirements set forth by the NCAA and be cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse prior to enrollment.
The award may be renewed annually to the same recipient, on the recommendation of his coach, during his academic career (four years) as long as he remains in good standing with the institution and the NCAA.
Carolina Bank operates 15 branch offices located in six counties throughout the Pee Dee region and Horry County and employs 180 personnel. With $220 million in assets, the bank is one of the oldest and largest independent banks in South Carolina. Since its founding in 1936, Carolina Bank has never been known by any other name and is still owned and managed by its founding family.
