FLORENCE, S.C. – Pee Dee Pathology Associates P.A. has pledged $50,000 to the Francis Marion University Foundation to establish an endowed scholarship as part of FMU’s Campaign for Excellence.
The Clarissa White Scholarship is named in honor of the longtime practice manager at Pee Dee Pathology Associates. White is a 1981 graduate of FMU with a bachelor’s degree in business.
“Pee Dee Pathology Associates greatly benefits through many of their work associates who are alumni of FMU,” said Dr. Louis Wright, a partner in the practice. “By recognizing Ms. White, we recognize with great appreciation the role FMU and its alumni play in supporting Pee Dee Pathology Associates in its endeavor to provide excellent diagnostic medicine to the people of the Pee Dee.”
The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage students to pursue careers in health-related fields.
The recipient of the scholarship must be a resident of the Pee Dee area and have a cumulative grade-point average of 2.5 or higher. Preference will be given to graduate students, students who intend to pursue a career in a health-related field, and students who demonstrate financial need. The recipient is eligible for repeat awards provided they meet the qualifications.
