FMU Women's Soccer Match for Saturday POSTPONED; Men's Will Host Clayton State on Saturday with Free Soccer Clinic to Follow
FLORENCE, S.C. – The Francis Marion University men’s soccer team will host unbeaten and 10th-ranked Clayton College & State University on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 12), but the women’s match between the two schools set for Saturday has been postponed.
The women’s match has been postponed to a yet-to-be-determined date following a Thursday morning traffic accident that injured two members of the 22nd-ranked FMU team. The Patriot women own a 9-2-0 record this season.
The men’s match for Saturday will proceed as scheduled at 4 p.m. Admission is free.
A free clinic will be held at the conclusion of the men’s match. All area youth players or teams interested in attending the clinic should call the FMU athletic office at 843-661-1240.
The FMU men have won their last six matches, equaling the fourth-longest streak in team history. The Patriots are 9-4-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the Peach Belt. The Clayton State men are 9-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the PBC, and have outscored their opponents 38-9 this season.
The Patriots lead the men’s series 6-0-3, including a 0-0 deadlock last year when the Lakers were ranked seventh.
