FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University sophomore outside hitter Jackie Ackman has been selected to the 2002 Verizon Academic All-District III College Division women’s volleyball team.
This awards program is conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), and District III includes Florida, Georgia, Virginia, and North and South Carolina.
The All-District team is comprised of first-, second-, and third-teams that include 19 student-athletes from 15 different schools. Ackman, who was named to the second team, is the only member from a South Carolina institution, and she is one of three Peach Belt Conference athletes selected.
Ackman, a native of Bartlett, Ill., is majoring in biology (pre-med) and owns a perfect 4.00 grade point average. She is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, and last year she was named to both the Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll and FMU’s Swamp Fox Honor Roll.
On the court this past season, she played in 34 matches and was second on the team in service aces with 42. She recorded 206 kills (1.7 per game), a .106 hitting percentage, 259 digs (2.19 per game), and 23 total blocks.
Francis Marion posted a 13-22 record and tied for fifth-place in the regular-season Peach Belt Conference standings.
Ackman is a product of Elgin High School, where she played for coaches Bob Hope and Ben Anzelc.
