FLORENCE, S.C. – Psi Chi, the national honor society in psychology, inducted 10 new members into its chapter at Francis Marion University on Oct 24.
Students inducted are Rhiannon Brown, Sandra Evans, Carmen Fleming, Lindsey Harte, Kelly Jackson, and Courtney Merritt of Florence; Michael Jernigan of Green Sea; Nicole Sanchious of Columbia; Margaret Walker of Galivants Ferry; and Amber Gaines of Garden Grove, Calif.
Psi Chi was founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology. Membership is awarded to graduate and undergraduate students who are making the study of psychology one of their major interests and who meet the qualifications.
Psi Chi is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association and the American Psychological Society. Psi Chi has grown into one of the largest and most successful honor societies in the world, with more than 975 chapters located at college and university campuses throughout the United States.
