Pianist Teresa Walters to perform at FMU, Nov. 13
FLORENCE, S.C. – Internationally acclaimed pianist Teresa Walters will perform in concert at Francis Marion University, Thursday, Nov. 13.
The concert will begin at 8 p.m. in the Hyman Fine Arts Center’s Kassab Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.
The recital is titled “Music of Comfort and Joy: Stories and Themes of Great Concertos,” and will feature works by Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky.
The concert will be presented in Walters’ Keynote Comments® format. She developed Keynote Comments® several years ago in response to the need to more fully share her music in certain settings. She shares enlightening information about the music before performing various selections on the recital program.
Walters is widely considered to be one of the world’s most uniquely gifted virtuoso pianists. Her concerts this season are part of an intense international schedule that includes performances throughout North and South America, Europe and Asia. In recent seasons, she has performed as recitalist and orchestral soloist on six continents and in most of the 50 United States.
Walters’ recent performance at Lincoln Center in New York earned a standing ovation from a capacity crowd. She recently became the first American pianist invited to perform three prestigious European recitals honoring the anniversary of composer Franz Liszt’s birthday. She is also recording a series of releases featuring the sacred piano music of Liszt.
The concert is part of FMU’s David Marshall and Catherine Koger Burns Memorial Recital Series.
