McLeod, Scarborough Named FMU's Outstanding Employees

     FLORENCE---James McLeod of Scranton and Diane J. Scarborough of Florence have been named outstanding staff employees of the year at Francis Marion University.

     The awards were presented July 22 during the staff awards luncheon, which also honored FMU employees for length of state service.

     McLeod is a master craftsman in building maintenance, and Scarborough is lab manager in the Biology Department.

     McLeod has been employed at FMU for 13 years and Scarborough for 25 years.  Both were cited for their dedication to their jobs and for service above and beyond the call of duty.

     President Carter presented McLeod and Scarborough with plaques and $1,000 checks in recognition of winning this annual award for FMU employees. 

     Janet R. Braddock of Effingham, executive assistant to the president, and Flora S. James of Florence, chief cook in dining services, were cited for 30 years of state service. 

    Employees honored for 20 years of service include: Jonathan E. Baltzell of Florence, director of academic computing services; Rannie D. Gamble of Florence, administrative manager in the Provost’s Office;  Donald Hyman of Florence, a painter in building maintenance;  Robin M. Moore of Olanta, director of administrative computing services; and Patsy J. Sauls of Florence, coordinator of user services in academic computing.

     Employees recognized with 10 years of service were: Garry L. Ballard of Florence, director of communications;  Patrick J. Boswell of Florence, computer programmer in administrative computing; Grace C. Floyd of Florence, printing equipment operator;  H. Franklin Larrimore of Mullins, supervisor of printing operations;  A. Maria McCormick of Dillon, administrative assistant in the Mathematics Department;  Garth W. Thomson of Florence, tennis coach and international students coordinator;  and Lisa M. Woodham of Florence, director of career development.

     One employee who is retiring from FMU was also recognized—Kathryn B. Phillips of Florence, director of financial assistance, 30 years.
