FLORENCE, S.C. – A collection of classical music valued at nearly $30,000 has been donated to Francis Marion University by Mrs. J.N. Privette of Florence.
The collection, from Privette’s son Greg’s estate, includes compact discs, audiocassette tapes, vinyl records, videos, scores, books and blank video and cassette tapes. The donation came about through FMU alumnus Larry Hooks, a friend of the Privette family.
“This is truly a treasure trove of classical music, one that I am certain our students and faculty will enjoy using,” said Paul Dove, dean of FMU’s James A. Rogers Library, which will house much of the donated materials. “They will especially benefit from the access and learning that such a great collection affords.”
