FLORENCE, S.C. – Precious M. Cristwell has been named coordinator of multicultural student affairs at Francis Marion University.
Cristwell most recently served as resident director in the housing office at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She also held various positions at the University of Central Florida and Seminole Community College.
Cristwell earned the B.S. degree in liberal studies and the M.E. degree in student personnel in higher education from the University of Central Florida.
“I am happy to have Ms. Cristwell join the student affairs staff,” said Joseph E. Heyward, FMU’s vice president of student affairs. “She comes with a wealth of ideas and the enthusiasm necessary to implement programs that will further improve the life of students utilizing the services of the multicultural affairs office.”
The Office of Multicultural Affairs serves as a liaison for FMU and the university’s students of color. The purpose of the office is to amplify the academic, social and cultural development of students of color through counseling and programming.
The coordinator of multicultural affairs serves as adviser to the FMU chapter of the National Pan-Hellenic Council and works in cooperation with other organizations that represent students of color.
