Swamp Fox Writing Project at FMU to host Summer Writers' Camp

FLORENCE, S.C. – The Swamp Fox Writing Project at Francis Marion University will host its inaugural Summer Writers’ Camp for local students, June 16-20 and 23-27.

The half-day camp will run from 8 a.m. to noon each day and campers may enroll for either one or two weeks. The cost of the camp is $100 per week.

The program will provide campers with opportunities to learn about various types of writing and develop their abilities to express their thoughts and ideas. Emphasis will be placed upon the writing process, creativity, skill improvement, and fun.

Each group of 10 students will be led by a certified teacher, with coordination and interaction from the FMU professorial staff. Campers will have access to university computer, educational and nature facilities.

Level I camps, for students in grades four, five and six, are: Poetry in Motion: Rap, Rhythm and Rhyme (June 16-20) and Leaves of Paper: Nature Writing (June 23-27).

Level II camps, for students in grades seven, eight and nine, are: Exploring Environments (June 16-20) and Amusements (June 23-27).

The registration deadline is June 6. For more information or an application form, contact Jennifer Liethen Kunka at 843-661-1520, or jkunka@fmarion.edu.
