FMU to hold alcohol awareness events for students

FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University will hold events March 4 and 5 to promote alcohol awareness to students prior to FMU’s spring break the following week.

A pre-spring break “Mocktail Celebration” will be held Tuesday, March 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Smith University Center’s swimming pool. This festive event will feature DJ Pat Gary, Karaoke, food and non-alcoholic drinks, as well as information about binge drinking.

On Wednesday, March 5, from 1 to 3 p.m., FMU Public Safety and the Florence Police Department will demonstrate “Fatal Vision,” a driving and pedestrian obstacle course, between the university center and the Leatherman Science Facility.

Both activities are free and open to FMU students, and are sponsored by FMU and the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws Task Force of the Florence County Coalition for Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Prevention.
