FLORENCE, S.C. - Francis Marion University women’s softball coach Jack Byerley has announced the appointment of Sara Vogt of Bloomington, Ind., as an assistant coach.
According to Byerley, Vogt’s duties will include working with the outfielders, serving as hitting instructor, and assisting in pre- and post-season conditioning.
Vogt is a recent graduate of Indiana University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in sports marketing and management. She served as a manager for the Hoosiers’ softball program for two seasons.
She played two years at Wabash Valley Junior College, earning Academic All-America honors as an outfielder and second baseman. She is also a graduate of Memorial High School in Evansville, Ind.
This past spring, FMU posted a 36-9 record, equaling the third-highest win total in the program’s history, while placing fourth during the Peach Belt Conference regular season. The squad also spent two weeks in the NFCA Top 25 poll, FMU’s first national ranking since moving to NCAA affiliation in 1992.
