FLORENCE, S.C. - Francis Marion University baseball coach Art Inabinet has announced the addition of Brian Tarajack of Youngstown, Ohio, as a volunteer assistant coach for the Patriot program.
According to Inabinet, Tarajack’s duties will include working with the outfielders, both with hitting and fielding; assisting in pre- and post-season conditioning; and helping in local recruiting.
Tarajack is a recent graduate of West Virginia University, where he earned a B.S. degree (cum laude) in physical education-sports management. He was a member of the Big East Conference Academic All-Star Team following the 2000 and 2001 seasons. A right-handed pitcher, Tarajack posted a 7-4 mark with a 4.71 earned run average in two seasons as a Mountaineer.
In addition to WVU, he also attended Garrett (Junior) College in McHenry, Md., and Western Kentucky University.
He served as an assistant coach with the Florence RedWolves this past summer. He also spent the 2002-03 year as an assistant coach at Garrett, and has one year of experience as a high school assistant coach. He has been an agent representative for Next Step Sports Management, a sports agency, since 1992.
His playing career also took him to the several summer leagues: Northwoods League (1998), Jayhawk League (1999), and the Alaskan Baseball League (2000).
Last spring, FMU posted a 30-20 record, was ranked 18th in the final Collegiate Baseball Magazine NCAA Division II Top 30 poll, and placed third at the NCAA Division II South Atlantic Regional, the program’s first post-season appearance in 10 years.
