FLORENCE, S.C. – After claiming a shutout road win in its only action last week, the Francis Marion University men’s soccer team slipped one position to 18th in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Top 25 poll, released Tuesday (Sept. 16).
FMU, with a 4-0-0 record, is off to the second-best start in the program’s 29-year history – bested only by the 1998 squad that opened 8-0-0.
FMU has now appeared in each of the last three Top 25 polls.
Undefeated Lynn University (6-0-0) maintains the No. 1 spot in the poll, while Peach Belt Conference preseason favorite USC Spartanburg (3-0-0) is ranked sixth.
Both the FMU men and women will play host to Wingate University, Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 17) on the FMU Soccer Field. The women’s match, pitting the 4-1-0 Patriots against the unbeaten Bulldog women (5-0-0), will begin at 2 p.m., followed by the men’s match at 4:30 p.m. The Wingate men are 4-1-0.
