FLORENCE, S.C. - The Francis Marion University men’s basketball team will attempt to go 4-0 for the first time in 11 seasons when the Patriots play host to the Newport News Apprentice School, Friday evening (Nov. 21) at 7:30 p.m.
The FMU frontline features three players scoring in double figures: Louis McCullough (16.3 points per game), Jaquan Bracey (13.0 ppg, 10.0 rebounds per game), and Randy Williams (11.7 ppg); while the backcourt of seniors David Hawkins and Jarron Hinton has combined for 31 assists in three games against only 24 turnovers.
The longest winning streak to start a Francis Marion hoops season was 8-0 in 1985-86.
The Apprentice School will be playing its season opener. The Builders return four starters from last season’s 17-11 squad.
This will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
Francis Marion will conclude its season-opening five-game homestand on Tuesday with a 7:30 p.m. contest against Catawba College.
