FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University sophomore Danielle Moore has been named the Peach Belt Conference women’s basketball “Player of the Week” for the week of Nov. 24-30.
Moore, a 6-0 guard-forward from Owings Mills, Md., averaged 17.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game last week in three contests – all Patriot wins. She connected on 65.6 percent of her field goal attempts and 60.0 percent of her free throws, while also recording seven assists, seven steals, and six blocked shots.
She tallied career-highs of 25 points and 14 rebounds in a 51-45 win at Eckerd College on Nov. 28. In that game, she scored FMU’s first 13 points. Interestingly, she is averaging nine points over the opening 10 minutes of each of the Patriots’ first four games. In last week’s other two contests, she scored 16 points against Presbyterian College and 11 points against the University of Tampa.
For the season, Moore leads the Patriots in scoring (15.8 ppg) and rebounding (8.5 rpg), while shooting 64.1 percent from the field.
FMU is 4-0 for the first time since the 2000-01 Sweet Sixteen squad won its first four contests. Dating back to the end of last season, the Patriots have also won five of their last six games away from the Smith University Center – after losing 13 straight away from the Florence campus.
Francis Marion is currently taking a break for final exams, and will return to action on Dec. 9 with a home game against Wingate University.
