Patriot Basketball Teams To Take Part in National "Take A Kid to the Game" Program, Jan. 18
FLORENCE, S.C. – The Francis Marion University men’s and women’s basketball teams are once again set to participate in the national “Take A Kid to the Game (TAKG)” program, when the Patriots host Lander University on Saturday, Jan. 18.
The women’s game will tip-off at 2 p.m., followed by the men’s contest at 4 p.m. The Peach Belt Conference twinbill is being sponsored by S&W Manufacturing of Florence, dealers of one of the most complete lines of filing systems and office products in the industry.
All kids 14 years old and younger will be admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult. Admission is $3 for adults (and regularly $2 for students). Swamp Fox Club season passes will be honored, and FMU students are admitted free with their identification cards.
FMU team posters will be available for youngsters attending the doubleheader.
Entering its eighth year, TAKG provides NCAA member institutions a national grassroots program designed to encourage adults to take children to collegiate athletic contests. This season, more than 600 TAKG games will be hosted across the nation, which will provide thousands of youngsters the opportunity to experience college basketball.
“We are very excited to again be participating in the NCAA’s Take A Kid to the Game initiative,” said FMU director of athletics Murray Hartzler. “Our wish is that all of the young kids in our immediate area will have the opportunity to experience the one-of-a-kind atmosphere that is NCAA basketball.”
