FLORENCE, S.C. – Despite winning two of three games last week, the Francis Marion University baseball team dropped one spot into a tie for 26th in the latest Collegiate Baseball Magazine NCAA Division II Top 30 poll, released Monday.
FMU concluded its three-game Peach Belt Conference series with UNC Pembroke, Monday afternoon on Cormell Field.
Entering that game, the Patriots were 20-12 overall and fourth in the Peach Belt standings with an 11-7 mark.
FMU travels to Laurinburg, N.C., to play St. Andrews Presbyterian College, Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., before returning home to play host to Newberry College, Thursday at 6 p.m. The Patriots will play a three-game PBC series at eighth-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University this Saturday and Sunday.
This is the eighth consecutive week FMU has appeared in the poll. The Patriots have been ranked as high as No. 12.
Fellow PBC member Kennesaw State University (25-7) is ranked first for the second straight week. Altogether, six Peach Belt Conference schools are ranked in this week’s poll.
