Highway To Be Dedicated in Honor of Yahnis
At 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, a ceremony will be held in the Cottage at Francis Marion University to dedicate a portion of Highway 76/301 in honor of Chris Yahnis, a Florence businessman. Officials from the S.C. Department of Transportation, local legislators and university officials will be on hand for the ceremony. State Sen. Hugh Leatherman and FMU President Fred Carter will make remarks.
Students Return to FMU Campus Saturday
On Saturday, Aug. 21, more than 400 freshmen will move into campus housing to begin the fall semester at FMU. More than 200 volunteers (students, faculty, staff and alumni) are expected to greet the incoming students and their families and help them move their belongings into the residence halls. The move-in begins at 8 a.m. and will continue until 4 p.m. Upperclassmen will return to campus housing on Sunday. Students who have not attended an orientation session will do so on Monday, Aug. 23. Students may also meet with faculty advisers for open registration on that day and pay their fees. Classes begin Wednesday, Aug. 25.
