FMU Planetarium to show "Voyage to the Outer Planets," Sept. 26

FLORENCE, S.C. – The Dooley Planetarium on the campus of Francis Marion University will present a program titled “Voyage to the Outer Planets,” Sunday (Sept. 26).

The program will begin at 3 p.m. and admission is free. The planetarium, located on the second floor of the Cauthen Educational Media Center, will open its doors at 2:30 p.m., and no admittance will be allowed once viewing begins.

Planetarium director Jeannette M. Myers described the program as a trip though the solar system.  It will include images and video from spacecraft launched in previous years.  The program will also look at highlights in the night sky for September and October.

Since its opening in 1978, the planetarium has regularly shown public programs on the second and fourth Sundays of each month.  Upcoming programs will be on Oct. 10 and 24.

For additional information about the planetarium, call Myers at 843-661-1441, or visit its website at
