FLORENCE, S.C. – The Dooley Planetarium on the campus of Francis Marion University will present its annual holiday program titled “The Christmas Star,” Sunday (Nov. 28).

The program will begin at 3 p.m. and admission is free. The planetarium, located on the second floor of the Cauthen Educational Media Center, will open its doors at 2:30 p.m., and no admittance will be allowed once viewing begins.

According to planetarium director Jeannette M. Myers, this program will examine the astronomical event that occurred around the time of the first Christmas.

Since its opening in 1978, the planetarium has regularly shown public programs on the second and fourth Sundays of each month.  The annual Christmas Star program will be repeated Dec. 12 and 19.
