FMU selects 2004 homecoming king and queen

FLORENCE, S.C. – Jonathan Grimes and Ashanda Heyward were selected as Francis Marion University’s 2004 homecoming king and queen on Feb. 28.

Grimes, of Edgefield, is a junior marketing major. He is a member of FMU’s Young, Gifted, and Black Chorus and the Marketing Club. He was sponsored by Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.

Heyward, of Beaufort, is a junior early childhood education major. She is a member of the Student Alumni Association, Minority Student Association, University Programming Board, Dimensions of Diversity Dance Team, Honors Student Association, and is a Multicultural Affairs Academic Scholar Award recipient. She was sponsored by the Student Government Association.

During Spirit Week, Feb. 23-27, FMU’s Student Government Association held elections to select the 2004 homecoming king and queen. The king and queen are selected by the student body to represent the student body’s school spirit. The crowning ceremony was performed during halftime of the FMU men’s basketball game against Augusta State University.
