FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University golfers Fredrik Ohlsson and Per Hallberg have been named to the 2004 Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars Team, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Tuesday.
The two seniors are among 35 NCAA Division II honorees. Ohlsson was also a member of the 2003 squad.
Ohlsson, a native of Goteborg, Sweden, played every round (31) this past season and led FMU with a 73.26 stroke average. He posted eight top-10 finishes in 2003-04, including a seventh-place tie at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Tournament. In 10 of his rounds this year, he shot even or below par.
On the course, Ohlsson is a three-time All-American, earning honorable mention recognition in 2004, first-team honors in 2003, and third-team honors in 2002.
Ohlsson is majoring in marketing and owns a 3.183 grade point average.
Hallberg, a native of Ytterby, Sweden, also played every round during the 2003-04 campaign, posting a career-best 75.7 stroke average. He recorded three Top 20 finishes and tied for 23rd at the NCAA regional tournament.
Hallberg is also a marketing major and has a 3.016 GPA.
The two helped lead the Patriots to a 108-55-6 record, including the Peach Belt Conference championship. FMU placed eighth at the 2004 Division II Southeast Regional Tournament. Both were members of the 2002-2003 Patriot squad that captured the Division II national title.
