Former Patriot Right-Hander Rejoins San Angelo Colts

FLORENCE, S.C. – Former Francis Marion University right-handed pitcher Sam Greco has been resigned by the San Angelo (Texas) Colts of the Central Baseball League.

The 6-2, 200-pound native of East Greenbush, N.Y. played two seasons (2000, 2001) at FMU.  He appeared in 17 games and recorded a 2-6 mark with one save and a 3.23 earned run average.  He struck out 54 batters in 62.1 innings.  In 10 appearances during the 2001 campaign, opponents batted only .204 against him.

Greco began the 2004 season with the Colts and posted an 0-1 mark with a 4.10 ERA in 15 games before being released on July 5.  He was resigned on Thursday.

Greco spent the 2001 summer with the New Jersey Cardinals of the Class A New York-Penn League.  He played for the Adirondack Lumberjacks of the Northern League in 2002 and for the Quebec Les Capitales of the independent Northeast League in 2003.

Greco attended Louisburg (N.C.) College, before transferring to FMU in 1999.
