Wet Field Alters FMU Soccer Slate

FLORENCE, S.C. – The women’s soccer match between Francis Marion University and Barton College set for Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 1) in Florence has been postponed due to wet playing conditions.

Precipitation from last weekend’s Tropical Storm Gaston, Tuesday evening storms, and Wednesday morning’s thunderstorms have saturated the FMU Soccer Field.

Approaching Hurricane Frances has also forced FMU to move its home women’s soccer match with Lenoir-Rhyne College from Sunday afternoon to Friday afternoon at 4 p.m.

The home opener for the Francis Marion men’s soccer team will take place as scheduled, Saturday at 2 p.m. against Queens University of Charlotte.

Admission to home soccer matches is free.
