FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University sophomore middlehitter Lezlie Logan has been selected as the Peach Belt Conference women’s volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 12.
The Cleburne, Texas, native is the first FMU player to earn the weekly award in exactly four seasons.
Logan averaged 4.50 kills and 0.88 service aces per game last week as Francis Marion split four matches – albeit only several points from an unbeaten week. FMU lost a tight five-game decision to 25th-ranked Florida Southern College and also lost in five games to Rollins College after serving for match point in the third game.
In 16 games during the week, the 5-10 middlehitter recorded 72 kills, 14 service aces, 14 digs, and 12 total blocks, in addition to a .315 hitting percentage. She had at least 16 kills in all four matches, including 20 in a 3-0 sweep of Coker College, and a .556 hitting percentage in a 3-0 victory over Saint Leo University.
For the season, Logan leads the Patriots in hitting percentage (.248), and kills, service aces, and blocks per game
Logan was the PBC’s Co-Freshman of the Year for 2003.
The 5-6 Patriots will travel to Laurinburg, N.C., to face St. Andrews Presbyterian College in a non-conference match, Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Logan is a former All-District performer at Cleburne High School.
