Patriots Host YMCA Youth Soccer Day, Saturday

    FLORENCE, S.C. – The Francis Marion University women’s soccer team will play host to Columbus State University on YMCA Youth Soccer Day, Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. on the FMU Soccer Field.

    Admission to the Peach Belt Conference match is free.  All YMCA youth league players are invited to attend and wear their jerseys.  The first 50 YMCA players through the gate will receive an FMU Soccer water bottle.

    This will be the first-ever meeting between Francis Marion (5-2-0, 1-0-0) and Columbus State (2-3-2, 0-1-0), as the Lady Cougars are in their inaugural season.

    The 9-7 Patriot volleyball team will be on the road this weekend, playing a pair of PBC matches at Lander University on Friday at 7 p.m. and at USC Upstate (in Spartanburg) on Saturday at 3 p.m.

    The FMU men’s soccer team (2-6-1) will also be in action on Saturday as the Patriots play at Pfeiffer University (2-4-0) in a 1 p.m. match

    The Francis Marion men’s and women’s cross country squads will both run in the Great American Cross Country Festival, Friday afternoon in Cary, N.C.  The women’s 5,000-meter race will begin at 2:45 p.m., followed by the men’s 8,000-meter race at 3:15 p.m.

    The ninth-ranked FMU men’s golf team will compete in the AFLAC / Cougar Invitational, hosted by Columbus State University, Monday and Tuesday at the Bull Creek Golf Club in Columbus, Ga.
