Patriots Earn Regional VB Ranking

    FLORENCE, S.C. – For the first time in five seasons, the Francis Marion University women’s volleyball team appears in the NCAA Division II South Regional rankings.

    The 12-7 Patriots are ranked 12th in the Oct. 6 poll.

    Barry University, ranked fifth in the national poll with an 11-1 record, occupies the top spot in the region ratings.  Five of FMU’s seven losses were to squads ranked ahead of them in the region poll.

    Francis Marion has won its last four matches and seven of its last eight.  The Patriots are currently tied for third in the Peach Belt Conference standings with a 3-1 mark.

    FMU plays a pair of road conference matches this weekend: at Augusta State University (2-16, 0-5) on Friday at 7 p.m. and at USC Aiken (13-7, 2-3) on Saturday at 3 p.m.
