FLORENCE, S.C. - Francis Marion University senior forward Louis McCullough has been named the Peach Belt Conference’s “Player of the Week” for the opening week of the 2004-05 season.
In FMU’s opening three games, the 6-6 Goose Creek native averaged 26.0 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 5.7 blocked shots per game. He connected on 57.1 percent of his field goal attempts (28 of 49), including nine of 19 three-point shots, and shot 81.3 percent from the free throw line (13 of 16).
He scored 30 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a 71-65 overtime win at Coker College on Nov. 15, tallied 18 points and eight rebounds in a 72-66 loss to St. Andrews Presbyterian College on Nov. 19, and capped off his week with a 30-point, career-high 17- rebound performance in a 74-68 victory over Fayetteville State on Saturday.
During Friday’s game against St. Andrews, he passed former Patriot great Marcel Boggs and moved into ninth place on the FMU career scoring list with 1,439 points. He also recorded seven blocked shots, only two shy of the school record. On Saturday, he moved into sixth place on the Patriot career rebounding list with 685.

The 2-1 Patriots will not play again until Dec. 3 when they meet Queens University of Charlotte on the opening night of the SODEXHO Classic in Charlotte.
The FMU women’s basketball team will play host to Presbyterian College, Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
