FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University women’s volleyball coach Sonny Kirkpatrick has announced the signing of Amy Witko of Toledo, Ohio, to national letter of intent during the recent early signing period.
Witko, a 5-8 outside hitter and defensive specialist, is a senior at Notre Dame Academy, where she plays for coach Jeff Johnson.
As a senior, she set a school record with 164 digs, while compiling a .243 hitting percentage with 154 kills, 28 service aces, and 17 total blocks. In 2004, she earned second-team District 7 Coaches Association (Division I) honors, while gaining first-team Toledo City League recognition for the second consecutive year.
She was an honorable mention TCL selection in 2002.
She is also a four-year member of the prestigious Toledo Volleyball Club.
“Amy is an outstanding player who does a number of wonderful things on the volleyball court,” said Kirkpatrick. “She will add a new dynamic to our squad, both with her playing ability and personality.”
Francis Marion recently completed its most successful season since 1999 with a 21-14 record and a third-place finish during the Peach Belt Conference regular season. The 2004 Patriot roster did not include any seniors.
