FMU Planetarium to show "The Skywatchers" program, Aug. 14
FLORENCE, S.C. – The Dooley Planetarium on the campus of Francis Marion University will present a program titled “The Skywatchers,” Sunday, Aug. 14.
The program will begin at 3 p.m. and admission is free. The planetarium, located on the second floor of the Cauthen Educational Media Center, will open its doors at 2:30 p.m., and no admittance will be allowed once viewing begins.
This program will examine the people that keep an eye on the sky – astronomers. Over the years, many events have been witnessed by these skywatchers. The program will take a look at a few of these skywatchers and their contributions to the field of astronomy.
Since its opening in 1978, the planetarium has regularly shown public programs on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. The program on Aug. 28 will be “The Star Next Door.”
