Pianist Benjamin Woods to perform First Tuesday concert, Sept. 6

FLORENCE, S.C. – Pianist Benjamin Woods will perform in concert, Tuesday, Sept. 6, as part of Francis Marion University’s First Tuesday Chamber Music Series.

Performances will be at 1 and 8 p.m. in the Hyman Fine Arts Center’s Kassab Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.

Woods will perform two popular Beethoven sonatas, the “Waldstein” and the “Appasionata.” The Kassab Recital Hall’s concert grand piano will be used for the first time since undergoing extensive renovations this summer at the Rice Music House in Columbia. A formal rededication ceremony will be held at a later date.

Woods is a professor of music at FMU and a former music director/conductor of the Florence Symphony Orchestra. As a pianist, he performs solo and chamber recitals around the country, and he coordinates the monthly First Tuesday Chamber Music Series for the FMU Department of Fine Arts and Mass Communication.
