FMU Planetarium to show "It's About Time" program, Sept. 25
FLORENCE, S.C. – The Dooley Planetarium on the campus of Francis Marion University will present a program titled “It’s About Time,” Sunday (Sept. 25).
The program will begin at 3 p.m. and admission is free. The planetarium, located on the second floor of the Cauthen Educational Media Center, will open its doors at 2:30 p.m., and no admittance will be allowed once viewing begins.
This program will examine time – a thing we are always trying to measure. How do we view time when we are talking about the stars in the universe? This show will look at time keeping and measurement in the field of astronomy. The program will tackle rather large time scales and is not suited for younger children.
Since its opening in 1978, the planetarium has regularly shown public programs on the second and fourth Sundays of each month. The program on Oct. 9 is titled “Voyage to the Outer Planets.”
