FMU to host economic growth vs. environmental protection debate, Oct. 24
FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University will host a debate, “Is There a Conflict Between Economic Growth and Environmental Protection?” Monday, Oct. 24.
The debate will begin at 7 p.m. in the Cauthen Educational Media Center’s Lowrimore Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public, and questions will be taken from the audience.
The debate participants will be Dwight Lee, Ramsey Chair of Economics and Free Enterprise at the University of Georgia, and Brian Czech, president of the Center for the Advancement of the Steady State Economy.
The debate is sponsored by the FMU Artist and Lecture Series, the South Carolina Sustainable Universities Initiative, the FMU School of Business, and the FMU Department of Biology.
